Tuesday 10 September 2013

It's been a busy Summer and now Autumn is drawing in, so I'll be preparing for Halloween, Bonfire Night and Christmas (Oh No! The dreaded C word!!!). The training and networking is on-going and I've noticed a few additional followers on Twitter - so thank you!

I've set myself a deadline of the end of September to get my art project finished and will post pictures when they're finally in place. Two pictures are done and hung in the office, so just the two triptych's to complete. It's been a challenge and quite time consuming, but very enjoyable and I can't wait to see them finally in place.

Oh wow, how time flies!! I have been very remiss in not posting to my blog, but a lot has been happening in the last 18 months since I last posted.

I've been keeping up to date with training and networking with other painters, and am even branching out into painting of a different kind, but more of that another time.

Last minute bookings

Have had quite a few last minute bookings lately; the latest one being Elveden Forest Estates needing a painter for the Big Onion Festival on Saturday. Not sure how busy it will be, but they have a children's area which will hopefully attract a few customers.

I'll make sure to take my camera to see if I can capture any new designs I come up with, so if you're in the area and like food, call in and say hello. Will update after the weekend to let you all know how I got on.

Strange requests

Had something a bit different asked of me on Saturday:

Can I do gerbils?
Full face gerbil or a couple on the cheek?
Cheek ones

Out come the trusty one-stroke paint and brush and within a couple of minutes he has two cute gerbils on the cheek.

Can I also have horns? And sharp teeth?
Pardon?
Sharp teeth.
(Lizzy then cleans her ears out and asks again what he wants, thinking she's misheard him)
Sharp teeth? Yes.

Just as well I had an inkling of what to do so 5 minutes later I had a very happy customer. At least my Sunday booking was nothing but pretty butterflies and flowers!

Getting ready for the weekend

My kit is all clean and ready for a weekend of painting. Tomorrow I'll be at a very well-known Cambridge company's summer bbq that's being held in Witchford, and on Sunday I'll be entertaining at a private birthday party in Godmanchester.

I'm also looking for a model for a last-minute entry in a competition - wonder if Daughter will deign to let me paint her this weekend...

Welcome to Lizzy B's!

Wow, I'd forgotten all about this blog!

So what's been happening in the world of Lizzy B's? Well, it's been a busy few months since the season started in earnest. March was the FACE conference (www.faceconference.co.uk) held in Cheshunt this year, and for my sins I've volunteered to be one of the organisers for the 2012 Conference along with my very good friend Kelly-Jane Erkin of KJ Entertainments (www.kjentertainments.co.uk).

Since Easter it's been really busy and I've been working for some fantastic clients (some of whom I've worked for before) - so thank you for booking me! I've also been working and networking with other painters, so if you need more than one painter for your event I can arrange that too.

Will try to update more often now I've remembered this, and if you see me out and about, come on over and say hello!
